Symbolism overload, and I don’t even know the half of it…
The take was original. The performances were incredible. The technique - impeccable.
But the hype took me in the wrong direction in regards to expectations for this experience, which Kamiah and I saw in IMAX.
I went in thinking it was an action, horror film - more along the lines of Bad Boys For Life mixed with The Last of Us (that battle of Jackson Hole was IN-TENSE!) - but instead it was a really good damn film, but more like a drama mixed with history and cultural nuance that I was completely unprepared for.
I need to watch this again. Now knowing what to expect, I want to watch and enjoy with that perspective, rather than feeling a bit bored as I did in the theater unfortunately.
It’s a slow burn for most of the time. Something I did not expect. So now that I have insight, I do look forward to watching this again.
But yeah - so much amazing research went into this story. Bravo for that indeed.
